Apply for Rice Bowl Grants

The Diocesan Commission for Global Solidarity announces the availability of Catholic Rice Bowl grants available to parish groups, Catholic schools and faith based aid agencies in the diocese.

Eligible organizations include parish programs, parish based school programs, nonparish school programs, or agency programs that address hunger and food insecurity in San Diego or Imperial County.

CRS Rice Bowl is sponsored by Catholic Relief Services (CRS), an international relief and development agency.  This Lenten program is conducted in Catholic parishes and schools throughout the Diocese of San Diego.

Seventy-five percent of the funds raised are sent to CRS for international development projects.  Twenty-five percent may be distributed within the diocese for hunger and poverty programs. The 25 percent of Rice Bowl contributions distributed locally serves to illustrate the importance of our responsibility as Christians to assist those in need within our own regions and enables participants to understand the plight of the poor in our own communities.

Grants will be between $500-$5,000.  For more information and to download the grant application form click here. Applications must be postmarked by January 15, 2016 and grants will be awarded in February of 2016.
