Faith in Healing Conference Sept. 17

Are you interested in mental health issues? Then this half-day event, offered by the San Diego Diocesan Mental Health Ministry Network and its 20 member parishes, is for you!

The program includes:

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Aaron Kheriaty, psychiatrist and author of The Catholic Guide to Depression; he is a UC Irvine Health psychiatrist specializing in adult psychiatry services, and his interests include medical ethics and psychiatry and spirituality.  Half-priced copies of Dr. Khariaty’s book, “The Catholic Guide to Depression,” will be available for sale.  Dr. Kheriaty will be available for book signing.

  • Those from outside the Diocese of San Diego are welcome
  • Parish mental health ministry leaders and members
  • Families and individuals experiencing mental health challenges
  • Those who care for family members with challenges
  • Priests, Deacons, and parish staff
  • National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) members
  • Mental health professionals
  • Anyone interested in mental health ministry

To date, 20 parishes belong to the San Diego Diocesan Mental Health Ministry Network.  This workshop has been designed to both enrich the ministries in member parishes and provide an opportunity for those in non-network member parishes to learn more about the ministry and consider offering their experience, talents, and passion around the issue of mental health in the service of their own parishes.  Join us for a half-day of developing “Faith in Healing.”

Faith in Healing will take place Saturday, September 17, 2016, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at St. Michael Catholic Church in the Msgr. Neal Dolan Holy Family Center (15546 Pomerado Road, Poway 92064).
