Privacy Policy

Policy Statement

SocialMinistrySanDiego.com and the Office for Social Ministry respect visitor privacy and is committed to protecting it. Visitors can visit most pages on the SocialMinistrySanDiego.com website without identifying themselves or providing any personal information. However, if a visitor wishes to contact SocialMinistrySanDiego.com, the user will be asked to provide contact information and an email address.

Server Access Reports

SocialMinistrySanDiego.com logs all accesses and events at its Web server and uses this information to generate periodic website statistics reports. These logs record the following information:

  • Internet Protocol (IP) Address of Visitor
  • Page(s) Visited
  • Time(s) Visited
  • Phrase typed into Search Engine before Visiting
  • Other information passed by your Web browser’s HTTP headers

We use a standard feature of browser software, called a “cookie,” to assign each visitor a unique, random number, a sort of “user ID” that resides on your computer. The cookie doesn’t actually identify the visitor, just the computer that a visitor uses to access our site. Unless you voluntarily identify yourself (through registration, for example), we won’t know who you are, even if we assign a cookie to your computer. The only personal information a cookie can contain is information you supply. A cookie can’t read unrelated data off your hard drive. Our advertisers and the third parties that provide products or services through our site may also assign their own cookies to your browser, a process that we don’t control. SocialMinistrySanDiego.com also uses web beacons (also known as “single-pixel GIFs”) to access cookies and to count users who visit the SocialMinistrySanDiego.com site or open SocialMinistrySanDiego.com’s HTML-formatted email messages.

Information You Provide

SocialMinistrySanDiego.com may collect and store information, personal or otherwise, that you voluntarily supply either while on the SocialMinistrySanDiego.com website or in responding via e-mail to a feature provided on the SocialMinistrySanDiego.com website. Some examples of this type of information include: demographic information that you electronically submit when you sign up for access to certain features, information (such as your name or email address) that you electronically submit when you register for surveys, emails, app downloading, or contests on the SocialMinistrySanDiego.com website, information that you post on message boards on the SocialMinistrySanDiego.com website, and information contained in search requests or questions that you submit to the SocialMinistrySanDiego.com website. If you decline to supply or provide SocialMinistrySanDiego.com with certain information while using the Service, you may not be able to use or participate in some or all of the features offered through the Service.

Information Sharing

We may share aggregate statistical information with business partners, sponsors, or other third parties, but none of them receive personally identifiable information. For example, we may tell an advertiser that X number of visitors visited a certain area on a website, or that Y number of men and Z number of women applied for extended service, but we would not disclose anything that uniquely identifies those individuals.

Keep in mind that whenever you voluntarily disclose personal information online—for example, on message boards, through email, or in chat areas—that information can be seen, collected and used by others besides SocialMinistrySanDiego.com. SocialMinistrySanDiego.com cannot be responsible for any unauthorized third party use of information that you disclose online.

Be aware that SocialMinistrySanDiego.com may occasionally release information about visitors when release is appropriate to comply with law, to enforce our Terms of Service agreement, or to protect the rights, property or safety of visitors to our site, the public, or SocialMinistrySanDiego.com.

Provider Partners

SocialMinistrySanDiego.com may make some content, products and services available through our Service through cooperative relationships with third party providers, where the brands of our provider partner appear prominently on SocialMinistrySanDiego.com. We may share with our provider partner any information you provide, or that is collected, in the course of visiting any pages that are made available in cooperation with our provider partner. In some cases, the provider partner may collect information from you directly, in which cases the privacy policy of the provider partner may apply to the provider partner’s use of your information. The privacy policy of our provider partners may differ from ours. If you have any questions regarding the privacy policy of one of our provider partners, you should contact the provider directly for more information.

Sites to Which We Link

SocialMinistrySanDiego.com may include links to other websites and provide access to products and services offered by third parties, whose privacy policies we don’t control. When you access another site or purchase products or services or conduct other transactions through our sites, use of any information you provide is governed by the privacy policy of the operator of the site you’re visiting or the provider of such products or services, even if it appears that you’re on SocialMinistrySanDiego.com-branded pages.

Forwarding News Stories

If a visitor wishes to use the link from a news story on our site to forward the address of the story to someone else, the user will be asked to provide his email address and the email address of the person to send to. This information is used only to email a link to the story as requested, and SocialMinistrySanDiego.com does not keep or use the addresses thus provided.

Subscriptions and Downloads

If a visitor wishes to subscribe to SocialMinistrySanDiego.com updates for stories and occasional breaking news updates, or wishes to download the SocialMinistrySanDiego.com mobile app, the user will be asked to provide his email address. This information will be used to send the newsletter when issued, or an email providing the app for download. To terminate all emails from SocialMinistrySanDiego.com, the user may “unsubscribe.” After completing an unsubscribe request, the user’s email address will be removed from the mailing list and no further email contact from SocialMinistrySanDiego.com will be sent.

Procedures to Safeguard Personal Information

SocialMinistrySanDiego.com has implemented procedures to safeguard visitor personal information. SocialMinistrySanDiego.com restricts access to personal information to those SocialMinistrySanDiego.com employees and agents who need to know that information in order to provide our products or services to them.

Notification of Policy and Policy Changes

Updates to this Privacy Policy will be posted on the SocialMinistrySanDiego.com website, so our visitors will always know what information we collect online, how we use it, and what choices they have.
