Responding to Reports of Abuse

“In recent days, a report was made public which detailed the experiences of at least a thousand survivors, victims of sexual abuse, the abuse of power and of conscience at the hands of priests over a period of approximately seventy years. … Pope Francis calls us to join him in penance and prayers to open our eyes and hearts in order to be more empathetic and sensitive to the pain of others.”

Pope Francis has released a letter to the People of God responding to the Grand Jury’s recent report on abuse in Pennsylvania dioceses. Click here to read the complete letter.

Our Bishop McElroy has also written a letter to the people of the Diocese of San Diego. You’ll find it here.

El Papa Francisco ha escrito una carta dirigida al Pueblo de Dios en la que nos pide que nos unamos en ayuno y oración para abrir los ojos y el corazón y para que nos sensibilicemos ante el sufrimiento de los demás.
